Community is important

When we think about well-being and health often times the first thing that comes to mind is healthy practices, such as getting enough sleep, eating healthy foods and managing stress levels. Yet an important element to our well-being that is often overlooked is connection and community. Having a strong community supports our need for belonging, purpose and understanding. Community looks different for each of us, but the need for community is universal. No matter where we are in life and no matter what we are facing, it is essential to have a reliable network in our lives.

With the importance of community, members are able to find support in this specific area within Kindly Human. Community is a popular support category within our service because it provides the opportunity to connect with others who have walked similar journeys of establishing, building, and maintaining a healthy community.

Your Kindly Human Community

Common ground and mutual understanding are healthy foundational elements to genuine connection. Within Kindly Human you have the opportunity to connect with Peers that align with specific challenge areas or situations as well as additional subjects and topics that are related to the overarching area of support.

Community Issues: Within this subject area you can explore experiences that include loneliness, feeling isolated, being an outsider, and feeling misunderstood. When connecting on these subjects Peers are available to share how they have navigated these challenges, what they learned from the experience and how they have moved forward.

Identity: The identity community subject area offers diverse support in areas such as LGBTQIA+, navigating race relations, gender equality, and a sense of belonging. Connecting with Peer experiences and Peers on identity subject areas provides a safe place for you to glean support from someone else’s journey while also finding encouragement as you navigate your own path.

Faith Community: Connecting with Peers that relate to your beliefs is helpful when navigating the highs, lows and transitions. Within this subject area you can connect on these specific topics - faith traditions & practices, finding faith, growing in faith, faith discomfort, and faith departure. Kindly Human Peers come from a wide variety of faith backgrounds and experiences to enable meaningful support that is connected to what you are facing.

Politics: You have probably been told at some point in your life to never talk about faith or politics because they can be polarizing subjects. We aren’t worried about that at Kindly Human. Peers are available to share their experiences as well as support you as you navigate political beliefs, political disagreements, and political unrest. Politics can impact you year-around, not just during an election season. So don’t bottle up what you are feeling; connect with a Peer that understands where you are coming from.

Building Community: Do you find yourself in a stage of building or rebuilding a healthy community? We can support you during this era with topics related to maintaining friendships, making friends, networking, community values, heritage and traditions. When faced with opportunities to make new connections it is important to make sure they are healthy opportunities for you. Having a neutral sounding board can be great in these moments.

General Community: As you look through these subjects and topics you may think ‘those are great but I’m not really sure which one best matches what I am facing’. That is ok! We have a general community subject area that is great if you aren’t really feeling connected to one of the specific topic areas.

No matter what stage of community you are in, we are here to share, listen and support you. The important thing is to not face life alone. Kindly Human Peers are always available to support you with encouragement and understanding as you conquer life’s challenges. Ready to connect with the Kindly Human Peer community?
