Say hello to Kindly Human!

Beginning in March, 2023 - we are changing our name from Listeners On Call to Kindly Human as we expand our service beyond listening into empathetic peer support.

What is a Peer?

Anyone with an empathetic heart who understands how a story can impact an individual has what it takes to be a Peer. Peers offer up their experiences with life lessons and make others in their same situations feel more seen and heard.

Peers can choose to share their personal name and photo on the platform or be anonymous! Anonymous Peers can use an alias name and a bitmoji / memoji as a profile photo.Anyone with an empathetic heart who understands how a story can impact an individual has what it takes to be a Peer. Who do you support?

Our Members come from diverse and varied backgrounds and are looking for everyday stories of encouragement to brighten their day. There are six areas of support that we focus on when offering them these opportunities for comfort:

  • Emotional Support focuses on how you are feeling. A story about needing emotional support can feature feelings of loneliness or overcoming insecurity to become the person you are meant to be.

  • Community Support is all about your friend and family groups. These stories feature messages of coming together and learning how to be a part of something fulfilling.

  • Relationship Support is focused on the “one on one”. Stories for this topic can include themes like navigating friendships, overcoming difficult conversations or starting over after a break up.

  • Work Support is all about career. Answering questions like “How did you decide which career was right for you?” or “How did you find peace at your stressful job?”

  • Financial Support focuses on making money not an enemy in your life. These stories can include messages of how you found hope during hard times and renegotiating what financial success looks like.

  • Health support has to do with the body and understanding that it is constantly changing. Getting older, contending with difficult health news and coming out on top are all good story themes for this topic.

How much do you get paid?

Earn $30 for sharing your approved experiences!

Each Peer is compensated $5 per recording and are asked to record a My Story recording and 5 other experiences to round out their profile - a total of 6 short recordings.

What do you need to do?

First things first… pick a story to tell! The first story you will be asked to share is during your application. We will call this your “My Story”. These recordings help our members get to know you as they look for a Peer.

In order to be considered for a Peer role on our platform, your My Story should follow a typical story format and feature one of the six themes. (Emotional Support, Community Support, Relationship Support, Work Support, Financial Support or Health Support)

Tips for recording your Story:

  • A Story is usually around 2 minutes long - so it’s a quick introduction only

  • Please don’t include your full name! Your first name will be on your profile and that’s plenty.

  • Please do not reference the support topic you are recording on. Authenticity is key!

  • Please refrain from using profanity or any content that isn’t appropriate for a working environment.

  • We are looking for stories about your life that you think changed or guided you in some meaningful way.

  • Stories should have a  beginning, middle and conclusion. Where were you before this experience? What happened? How did that change you?

  • Advice is not the goal of these recordings. Giving any kind of direction is antithetical to the goal of truly connecting.

  • Please refrain from engaging in self promotion or quoting copyrighted materials in your recording.

  • Uplifting stories are the key. Try to think of an event that was challenging, but that you feel you navigated and came to terms with in a positive way, possibly a way that you are even proud of.

  • Remember that writing down your story makes a great impact on overall delivery!
